Free App for PR Professionals: Google Chrome

Google Chrome App is a fast, easy to use, and secure browser that is designed for both the smartphone and computer users.

Google Chrome

The app provides quick links to desired websites, give personalized news articles, and facilitate the download of files and any desired document (Mehta, 2016). Besides, the app has a Google search feature which allows searching for any topic of interest on the internet. The app also has google translate feature which allows translation of any word into various languages used across the globe. The app’s operation is facilitated by the presence of multiple features, including auto-fill, which provides suggestions based on the typed keywords (Mehta, 2016).

Additionally, the app has synch chrome across devices feature, which allows the user to save and access online passwords and bookmarks whenever and wherever they want. Also, Google Chrome app has safe browsing feature which warns the user against visiting the suspicious sites, thus keeping the phone or the computer safe (Ledford & Davis, 2009). Chrome has an offline page saving feature which enables an individual to download and view web pages even when offline. Google voice search feature available in the chrome app allows the physically challenged persons to use the app without physically typing the words to the app (Mehta, 2016). Besides, the chrome app has Lite feature which allows the users to browse the web at a faster speed using fewer data.

Since Public Relations (PR) professionals have the mandate of managing the spread of information between a person or firm and the members of the public, Google Chrome app is of great importance to them (Ledford & Davis, 2009). The Chrome app has a feedback feature which allows the users to give their feedback on the benefits and challenges they incur while using the app. The PR professionals will, therefore, rely on the app to monitor the spread of news articles among the public, based on the feedback of the users (Mehta, 2016). Google Chrome app is therefore crucial to PR professionals as it helps them to manage news spread between media platforms and members of the public.

Google Chrome App Mobile

The app is entirely free and is available on the Google Play, Apple Store, and other web browsers. Almost all features are free on the app, apart from the ads services which require a premium subscription to stop the regular pop-up of ads (Mehta, 2016). The best feature about the Google Chrome app is its ability to save passwords, cookies, and bookmarks, and then allow synchronization and access of the passwords in separate devices. The online saving and synchronization feature favors users with poor memory since they can access the passwords online (Mehta, 2016). The worst aspect of the app is the regular pop-up of irrelevant ads which obscures the screen and slows the performance of the phone or computer user. Besides, the ads make browsing boring.

The Google Chrome app can be used on both the computer and the phone. However, the phone and computer versions vary from each other based on the storage size (Mehta, 2016). The two versions of Chrome vary in size, in that Desktop chrome occupies large memory space compared to the mobile version which occupies relatively smaller space. Concerning the user interface, the desktop version has a customized feature at the right-bottom corner, which allows customization of the app’s background (Mehta, 2016). Conversely, the phone version lacks the personalization and relies on the default Chrome background. The varying sizes of the two versions affect the operation speed of the app; therefore, the phone version is faster than the desktop version.
